A New Year, A New Look

Notice anything different around here? Look up. A little higher…bingo. A new blog name. Whaddya think of that?

Honestly, my old name had been eating at me for some time. Something didn’t feel right and it just didn’t seem like a good fit for what I was writing about. When I first started this blog way back when in 2010 my original intention was to write a money saving/budgeting/bargain hunting blog. You all know I’m a cheapskate and I thought that’s what I wanted to write about. Soon, I realized that there were many other bargain blogs out there and that I really preferred just reading their advice than trying to come up with my own. I then decided to shift focus to writing about inexpensive things to do in SoCal because it combined two things I love – where I live and saving money. That proved to be a much better fit and 2012 found me writing up a storm! The only problem was the name. Metropolitan Money Pit. Initially I thought I was being clever. Saving money in the city. Get it? Most people didn’t. Especially PR folks who inundated my inbox with pitches for stories about the recession, credit ratings, and the like. Or maybe they did get it and I was the one who was confused. Who knows? Either way, a change was necessary.

So, I came up with the oh so original name – LA Explorer. It may not be very clever but it’s clear. I love LA. I love to explore. I explore LA. I AM the LA Explorer.

I honestly think the name is perfect and I hope you like it, too. Content-wise the blog will stay pretty much the same. I will still share with you lots of inexpensive things to do (after all, I am a confirmed cheapskate) but I’ll also be including things that are worth spending a few more dollars on. Every *ahem* ALMOST every Sunday you’ll still find my Lazy Sunday posts. And hopefully there’ll be lots more fun, new things coming, too.

So, welcome to LA Explorer . Pull up a chair, put up your feet, and stay awhile, won’t you?
