An Immersive Experience at Dreamscape

A couple of years ago I had my first taste of virtual reality when I experienced The Blu at Natural History Museum LA. I had a blast exploring the deep sea and meeting assorted underwater creatures. Since then, I’ve been game to try it again but am way too cheap to buy my own VR headset. Luckily, a brand new opportunity just opened up in Century City called Dreamscape Immersive and I was invited to try it out.

Dreamscape Immersive is located in the Century City Mall but is an experience that wouldn’t be out of place in Disneyland. Once inside you purchase your ticket, choose your avatar and head to the boarding area where you await your journey to a fantastical world. While you wait there are on display artifacts of the adventures you can experience.

Currently, there are three adventures you can try – The Blu (a more enhanced version of my experience at the museum), Alien Zoo and Curse of the Lost Pearl – a Magic Projector Adventure.

All the adventures sounded like a lot of fun and I decided to start with Alien Zoo in which you travel to outer-space to observe a variety of extra-terrestrial creatures at an interplanetary zoo. At the scheduled departure time I was led to staging room where I joined 5 others to start the adventure. We donned our gear (hand and foot sensors, backpacks and VR glasses) and headed out to explore. Before we knew it we were in the midst of a unique landscape far above the earth and meeting a variety of fascinating creatures. We could see them, hear them and even touch them! It was a fun, unique experience that left me wanting more so I immediately booked my next adventure.

I enjoyed Alien Zoo but I absolutely loved Curse of the Lost Pearl: A Magic Projector Adventure. Whereas Alien Zoo is more of a passive experience Curse of the Lost Pearl has you moving around searching through corridors and leaping over chasms. I felt like Indiana Jones as I explored an ancient Mayan temple searching for the lost pearl.

Dreamscape Immersion is an immensely fun experience unlike anything else out there. It allows you to escape everyday reality and experience a world of adventure – even if just for a little while. I can’t wait to go back and see where I’ll end up next.
