Disneyland’s Delicious Dole Whip

Back in the day most family trips to Disneyland would include a trip to the Tiki Juice Bar for a fresh pineapple spear and juice. Then one day the Dole Whip appeared. I tried it and thought it was just ok. But my sister loved it so we continued to stop for a treat. Then I tried I tried the Dole Whip Float and everything changed.

Suddenly I realized how delicious Dole Whip really was and would need to grab one every visit. It became Shannon’s and my tradition. Somewhere along the way it became everyone elses, too. Once upon a time we could just walk up to the counter and order one. Those days are certainly gone.

Last week the fam and I decided to take a last minute trip to the park before the summer crowds hit. It was still a bit crowded but we managed to dine at the Carnation Cafe, catch the Hatbox Ghost at the Haunted Mansion and grab a whip for dessert (amongst other things). Looking back, I think the line at the Tiki Hut was the longest wait.

No problemo. The weather was agreeable and it gave me a chance to really look at my surroundings. Disney, you done good.

I also noticed some interesting things offered at the Tiki Hut, too. You can now purchase special “tiki” bowls and sippers for your treats.

Let’s just say these weren’t selling like hot cakes. I opted instead to grab a rare Disney freebie – a Tiki Hut postcard.

On the back is a recipe for tasty smoothie. Sounds delish but I think I’ll stick to the whip.

I had my first one last month!
The line was extremely long, BUT if you went to the line off of the Enchanted Tiki waiting room there was less than a 5 minute wait!
