Fall Arrives at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar

Out of all the seasons fall is my very favorite. The weather…the holidays…the food…what’s not to love? Recently, one of my favorite spots, Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar released their seasonal fall menu and I was lucky enough to be invited to try it out.

The night I visited the restaurant it was cold and windy making it the perfect atmosphere for warm comfort food. We started with two new appetizers – Crispy Deviled Eggs and Roasted Winter Veggies. I was a bit nervous about the deviled eggs – I’m usually not a fan of the traditional treat. But this was no traditional preparation as the eggs were lightly fried and topped with candied bacon. I actually found them quite tasty! As for the Roasted Winter Veggies – how can you go wrong with roasted brussels sprouts, carrots, sweet potatoes and red onions topped with creamy burrata, pomegranate and thyme?

When it comes to entrees, Lazy Dog offers a full array of unique fall options and, hands down, my favorites were the PB & J Burger and the Bone-In Apple-Sage Pork Chops. Initially, I was even more wary of the PB & J Burger than of the deviled eggs. I’m one of those few Americans who doesn’t really like PB & J’s and, frankly, the burger sounded a bit weird. Imagine my surprise when I found it to be absolutely delicious! In addition to the usual fixings the half pound burger is topped with  Havarti cheese, peanut butter, grape jelly and good old candied bacon. The combination of sweet and savory was fantastic and I would definitely order it again. I would also not hesitate to order the Bone-In Apple-Sage Pork Chops. These chops have been marinated for 24 hours and are filled with flavor Accompanied by roasted winter veggies and gravy they’re the ultimate comfort food.

Of course, you need something to wash all that food down! I started with a Pomegranate Punch which features whiskey, elderflower liqueur, pomegranate cranberry juice, sweet & sour, mint and rosemary. This sweet, tart concoction was the perfect palate pleasure. I ended the meal with the Maple Bacon Old-Fashioned featuring whiskey, maple syrup and delicious candied bacon. This sweet, smokey drink is could easily replace dessert.

Of course, I couldn’t skip dessert! What says fall more than apple pie? Lazy Dog’s is served open faced and features fresh apples and wild huckleberries. Topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream it’s a warm, tasty treat. And if you happen to be gluten-free, no fear! You can fully enjoy the Seven – Layer Chocolate Cake. Made with almond flour this tasty treat is served with raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream.

Once again, Lazy Dog has succeed in presenting a completely unique yet ultimately comforting seasonal menu. I hope fall lasts for a good long while because I’ll be making quite a few trips to my local restaurant.
