I’m Smitten With Apps

I admit it. I constantly find myself scrolling through the app store looking for fun little doo dads to add to my phone. I love that they’re convenient, fun, and often free. What I don’t love is that there are so darn many! Looking for a decent app is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I don’t know how many times I’ve download an app only to find that it’s totally lame. Erg!

Luckily, there’s a new little service called appSmitten to help you out in your quest for that elusive, great app.

It’s a newsletter that provides hand picked apps selected by the appSmitten staff. So instead of having to scroll through the app store, read all the reviews, and try to decide whether or not it’s worth the download – it’s already done. Every newsletter you’ll get a recommended app that has already be preapproved. No duds allowed!

The newsletter is is available daily or weekly, depending on your preference. And don’t think that appSmitten is Apple inclined. In addition to the IPhone and the IPad they also recommend apps for all you Android lovers.

Now, you know that I don’t recommend newsletters unless I think that they are worth receiving. I’ve been subscribing to appSmitten for awhile now and I am…well…smitten. The newsletters are brief and to the point – here’s a recommended app, here’s why it’s great, here’s how much it costs. Love it. My favorite find so far has been Hello Vino – an app that assists you when choosing wine. I use wine a lot for cooking and sometimes for drinking but know next to nothing about it. Seriously. I know there’s red and I know there’s white. Luckily, with this app all I gots to do is provide the meal or occasion and it’ll recommend what type of wine to get. Hallelujah! No more standing in the wine aisle agonizing over which of the many varieties of red and white will work for my dish.

So check out appSmitten for an easy way to find some cool apps.

full disclosure: I do get compensation for every newsletter sign up. The opinions above are my own and I truly am a subscriber myself.
