Sunday Funday in LA

There are some Sundays where there’s nothing to do and I just relax and enjoy more sedentary pursuits like catching up on the DVR or reading a book. Then there are Sundays that are chock full of activity from morning to night and I find myself out and about enjoying the area. That’s what next Sunday April 3 is going to be all about – full of fun stuff I can’t wait to explore. I figure I’d give you a heads up in case you want to discover them for yourself.

House1

First up is an The Suffragist Open House in Garvanza. Now, I didn’t even know this house existed but in 1886 two leaders of the suffragist movement, Anna Howard Shaw and Cora Scott Pond Pope, purchased the land and relocated to the area from Boston. It was initially used as women’s home and may have also been the headquarters of a “secret society” of women. It was recently restored to it’s original splendor and to celebrate there’ll be a open house on Sunday. Food, entertainment and tours will be offered from 12-4pm. The house is located at 200 North Ave 66, Los Angeles, 90042. Personally, I can’t wait to take a peek at it.

A short trip up the 110 will lead you to the Rose Bowl and the next fun event – Masters of Taste. This food and beverage festival brings together some of the area’s top chefs and mixologists to present tasty samples of their signature items. Just looking at the list of restaurants participating makes me salivate – BierBeisl, Ayara Thai, Magnolia House, The Raymond, Redbird…not to mention delicious desserts, beer, wine and cocktails!

After I stuff myself at Masters of Taste I’m heading to Exposition Park to the World’s Largest Tea Tasting Party.

April 3rd Tea Tasting at California Science Center - Retro Flyer

There’ll entertainment, food and lots and lots of tea. Plus, a world record will be broken! The event takes place at the California Science Center from 6:30-9:30pm and the proceeds go to Miriam’s House. It should be a lot of fun.

Whew! I’ve got a full schedule ahead of me and I can’t wait!
