Take A Hike – Trekking the Trails at Tree People

Now, I know that with the weather being so hot, the last recommendation you want is a place to take a hike. But I love this place so much that I just have to recommend it.
Tree People

This is the Tree People headquarters located in Coldwater Canyon Park. TreePeople is a nonprofit conservation group whose headquarters are located off the famous (or perhaps infamous) Mulholland Drive.
Now you may ask, what does this have to do with hiking.? Well, TreePeople serves as a gateway of sorts to Coldwater Canyon Park. They have a nice paved parking lot, gardens, an amphitheater and wait for it….restrooms. Now, I’m not talking portapods here, I’m talking nice normal full service restrooms. Hallelujah!

This is not the restroom

They also have a few small trails that are nicely kept up. They wander through various trees and are a delightful respite for a hot day.

The area then opens onto an incredible vista of the valley beyond.

And you have the option of continuing on various trails throughout Coldwater Canyon Park. Albeit with a bit less shade.

You can go left…
or you can go right

All in all, it’s a lovely way to spend the day.  So head on over to TreePeople and Coldwater Canyon Park for a day of hiking in the beautiful SoCal weather. You can even bring Fido.
