The 4th Annual Masters of Taste Returns to the Rose Bowl

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Masters of Taste is my favorite area food festival so I’m super excited that it’s returning to the Rose Bowl on April 7, 2019 for its 4th annual celebration. With all proceeds benefiting Union Station Homeless Services it’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon while simultaneously supporting a wonderful cause. Last week, I was lucky enough to attend a preview of the event and I have a feeling this year’s is going to be the best one yet.

The best events are ever evolving and Masters of Taste is no different. This year, the festival will have a host chef, Chef Michael Hung of Faith & Flower. He’s participated in the event for the past two years and is excited to be this year’s host as “…Union Station Homeless Services and Masters of Taste are truly leaders in helping those who are in need.” At the preview he prepared a Roasted Prime Striploin topped with a delicious au jus and paired with a luscious pea tart and I think we’ll all be in safe hands on April 7.

In addition to Chef Michael Hung there will be over 95 culinary masters offering tastings including Chef Sammy Monsour of Preux & Proper, Chef Vanda Asapahu of Ayara Thai and Chef Jon Hung of The Raymond 1886. I was lucky enough to sample the Seared Sea Trout from the latter and it was absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to see what he makes next month.

One of my favorite aspects of Masters of Taste is the cocktail selection and this year’s looks to be spectacular. There will be over 25 spirits brands and bars including my favorite The Raymond 1886 which offered a delicious gin cocktail at the preview. In addition to spirits there are also numerous wineries and breweries on hand as well as a diverse selection of non-alcoholic beverages.

Of course, we can’t forget about dessert and there will be plenty of sweets on offer such as delicious chocolates from Mignon Chocolate, pastries from Porto’s Bakery and ice cream from SuperCool Creamery.

I, personally, can’t wait until April 7 for the 4th Annual Masters of Taste. Running from 4-7pm it’s sure to an event for the ages.
