Spotlight on Chimes Ginger Chews

local spotlightI admit when ginger chews first starting appearing on store shelves I was a bit skeptical. Sure, I loved gingersnaps but ginger candy? Hmmm. Then I tried Chimes Ginger Chews and all doubt was erased.

So what made me decide to try them? Really, it was the packaging. Isn’t it awesome? A little bit Victorian, a little bit Art Nouveau, a whole lot of unique – everything that I love.

Recently, I was sent the above packages from Chimes so I could sample the entire line. The chews are available in five flavors – original, orange, peppermint, mango and peanut butter. I’d already had the mango and orange and knew they were delicious. So then I went for the original – sweet with a kick. I like it! After that I reached for the peppermint –

I could totally see these replacing my usual Mentos as a breath freshener. Finally, I tried the peanut butter. This is the flavor that I had my doubts about. Peanut butter and ginger? It sounded so strange. But, it’s good!

Although Chimes Ginger Chews are made in Indonesia they are produced by a local company, Roxy Trading based out of Pomona. A local brand manufactures one of my favorite snack food? Love it!

Locally, you can find Chimes Ginger Chews at Whole Foods, World Market, and Surfas. For all other stores check here.
