So last week I had the awesome opportunity to visit the ultra chic
London West Hollywood. And have lunch at The Rooftop by Gordon Ramsey. For free. I didn’t need to think about that one twice!
So off I went to spend a lovely afternoon on the rooftop of the hotel enjoying the only 360 degree view in the area. And it did not disappoint. It was a spectacularly sunny day and the view was amazing.
Now the roof of the hotel is not only home to The Rooftop by Gordon Ramsey but also includes a pool and lounge area for hotel guests.
Aren’t those cabanas amazing! I would love to rent one but they’re for hotel guests only. I guess I’m going to have to check in!
All are welcome to dine at The Rooftop by Gordon Ramsey (reservations required). Check out a sampling of the treats available there.
From the top – fruit salad with cayenne pepper, burrata with prosciutto and melon, ginger lemonade, and Pisco Punch. So how was it? Well, the fruit salad was meh. The burrata with prosciutto and melon was tasty but runs about $20. Honestly, I didn’t think it was worth the price. They ginger lemonade was quite good and the Pisco Punch…oh the Pisco Punch! I dream of it still. Absolute Perfection! Seriously. One of the best cocktails I’ve ever had.
After a leisurely meal, I was taken on a tour of the hotel. First we visited a guest suite (it’s an all suite hotel).
OMG. You know, I actually hate that term but, really, OMG. Now let me tell you something. I’m not the biggest fan of hotels – too cold, too warm, scratchy blankets, funky smells, loud noises, etc. etc. etc. Give me my own bed any day. But this place…I would visit in a heartbeat. The minute I walked in the room all I could think was that it smelled SO good. I don’t what it was, but I would gladly bottle that scent. And you can see from the photos it’s got a great bed, lots of space, plenty of seating, a modtastic wet bar, and an awesome view. What you can’t see is the bathroom. I didn’t end up taking any photos but it was GINORMOUS. Seriously, it had a giant tub, a separate shower, and oodles of room. And by the way, this is one of their smaller rooms.
And if you’re worried about noise? Don’t even think about it. Each room is set back from the hallway in a little alcove AND each room has 18 inches of space between them. So no worries about hearing your neighbors conversations.
As you can see even the hallways are inviting!
After oohing and aahing at the guest room we visited the restaurant. Now the restaurant is made up of three parts – Gordon Ramsey at the London West Hollywood, The Boxwood Cafe, and The London Bar. At the time I didn’t realize they were actually separate establishments so I’m just gonna show you all the photos together.
Isn’t it so lovely? The restaurant was closed when we visited as during the summer lunch is only served on the rooftop.
Now I’m sure you’re thinking “WTF? I thought this was a bargain blog?” Well, The London definitely falls under the worth the splurge category. Although I do admit, it is a pretty big splurge. But, guess what? Even at this tony location I managed to find a bargain for you all. Check it out!
Ok, maybe that’s a little hard to read. Basically, The London Bar has a happy hour Monday thru Friday from 5-7pm (with live jazz on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays). During this time cocktails and appetizers are available for $5! And anybody can go. I made sure to double check. See? I got your back.
