Attending the KCET Doc Martin Party
I’m a sucker for British TV and I’m not just talking Downtown Abbey. Whether it be comedy, drama or period piece I’m all for it. Spaced. Sherlock. The Office. Life on Mars. Broadchurch. Miranda. The Hour. Friday Night Dinner…I could go on and on. Recently, I was invited to attend the premier party for the new season of Doc Martin on KCET. A party to celebrate one of the top British comedies? I’m there.
The party, thrown by KCET, was held at the Hancock Park home of the British Consul General. Hancock Park is one of my absolute favorite neighborhoods. Filled with beautiful historic homes it’s one of the most beautiful spots in the city. For the occasion the Consul General’s backyard was all decked out and it was a lovely sight to see.
We were treated to an array of delicious food and drink. There even was a signature cocktail!
Of course, I had to try one and it at was quite tasty. Just What the Doc Ordered indeed.
In addition to the refreshments the party also featured a special guest, Ian McNeice, who plays the show’s lovable Bert Large. Mr. McNeice is quite a charming bloke and regaled the crowd with tales of the show. He won us all over and I couldn’t resist getting his autograph.
We also were treated to a sneak preview of the 7th season and it looks like the good Doc is having a hard time adjusting to family life. All is not hunky dory in Portwenn.
Luckily, the the season is now airing on KCET and I can tune in to see just what happens to Doc Martin and the rest of the cast. Hopefully, things are looking up!
