Christmas Time at Disneyland

For some reason, it had been a struggle to get into the Christmas spirit this year. Maybe it’s the fact that Christmas was crammed down our throats since right after Halloween. Don’t get me wrong. I love Christmas but don’t want to be surrounded by it in early November. Or it could be a host of other things. Either way, my bah humbug was way too strong.

I then realized there was one thing I could do – go to Disneyland. I know it’s a big marketing scheme but I love Disneyland during the holidays. The decorations, the treats, the atmosphere – it’s enough to make this Grinch’s heart grown ten sizes.

So that’s just what I did. I went to Disneyland.

Don’t you just feel the Christmas cheer washing over you?

Since I grew up within a few miles of the mouse house I have been there more times than I can count. You’d think I’d grow tired of it, but it’s just the opposite. Because I’ve been there so often I have no pressure to check all the necessaries off my list. I can just relax and wander around at my leisure. So I (along with my mom and sister) spent a good deal of the time on Main Street. We looked through all the shops and relaxed snacking on our treats from the Jolly Holiday Bakery. And we saw details we wouldn’t ordinarily notice.

Or Lee, the beautiful horse that gave us a ride on the Horse Drawn Carriage.

And because we were lucky enough to have park hopper passes, we spent our first Christmastime at California Adventure.

Now I know this amounts to Disney blasphemy but I think I like the tree here better than at Disneyland. I love the vintage style ornaments (of course). And there’s so much going on under the tree.

I adore the gingerbread replica of the Cozy Cone Motel.

As you can see it was growing dark so we headed back to Disneyland to see the Christmas lights and wait for the fire works.
