A Cool Treat – Having an Ice Cream Sandwich at Coolhaus
So yesterday I told you about how I discovered a great restaurant when I happened to glance down a side street. Well, I’ve got an opposite tale today. For I anticipated this place for months before it opened and when I finally went, I couldn’t find it!
So, what am I talking about? Why the official Coolhaus storefront!
Is it any wonder I couldn’t find it? |
You may recall my oohing and ahhing over the Coolhaus ice cream sandwich when I visited the Yamashiro Farmer’s Market last summer. I’ve been a fan for awhile and was so excited to find out that the were opening a brick and mortar spot in Culver City. Well, it’s open now and it’s great (being hard to spot notwithstanding).
They’ve got a bunch more flavor options than the truck – both in ice cream and in cookies. And you don’t need to get an ice cream sandwich – there are cups available if you are so inclined. I am not, so I made sure to grab a sandy.
Yummedy, yum, yum, yum. Pistachio truffle ice cream sandwiched between two deliciously chocolatey cookies. For five smackers, I admit it’s not the best bargain. But it is handmade, it’s a large portion, and it’s delicious. So, wouldn’t you rather drop a fiver on this than an (almost) gallon of the store bought stuff. Exactly!
