Dining at the Madonna Inn
One of the ultimate road trip stops is a unique spot just south of San Louis Obispo. Of course, I’m talking about the Madonna Inn.
When traveling on Highway 101 there’s no way to miss the bright pink beacon that’s been beckoning travelers since 1958. I’ve stopped a few time in the past but never had the opportunity to dine there. Until this time. My sister and I decided to take the plunge and dine at the Copper Cafe.
As you can see, it’s name is no accident…the metal is everywhere. And the cafe itself hasn’t been changed, I’m guessing, since the 1960’s. Now you know I love that. My sister and I both were in retro kitsch heaven.
As it hadn’t been that long since we had lunch we decided to get dessert. As the saying goes, “when in Rome…” so we opted for a slice of the signature Pink Champagne Cake.
Thank goodness we decided to share! A tower of sugary sweet goodness it gave us the jolt of energy we needed to continue our trip.
I’m glad I finally took the time to dine at the Madonna Inn – it was a memorable experience I won’t soon forget.
