Everytable Opens in Santa Monica
Prior posts may suggest otherwise but I really do try to eat well most of the time. Of course, I love ice cream and cocktails and the occasional fast food but when I’m not out and about I’m keeping my meals on the healthy side. But sometimes it’s just a pain to cook and dining out gets expensive so what do I do when I want to eat something quick and healthy? Luckily, I was invited to preview the newest Everytable location in Santa Monica and I think my problems may now be solved (I also received complimentary meals).
Everytable is a new concept that is fast gaining ground in Los Angeles. Aiming to provide inexpensive, healthy meals for all Angelenos the store fronts are located in South LA, Downtown, Baldwin Hills and, now Santa Monica (on the Third Street Promenade). There you’ll find an array of ready made meals ranging in price from $5.99 to 6.99. There are several salads as well as entrees and even kids meals. All are made daily in a commissary in central LA and are designed to be healthy, hearty meals.
On my visit I sampled an array of salads and entrees. Now, I’m a firmly established carnivore but my two favorite salads happened to be meatless.
The Green Goddess Salad was chock full of fruit and veg and had an added does of black eyed peas which made it really stand out. The peas provided a good does of flavor and protein making it quite filling. The Vegan Miso Bowl, served chilled, had a base of quinoa that was topped with an array of roasted vegetables. Wow! the veggies were melt in your mouth delicious and the whole bowl was filled with flavor.
On the entree end I sampled pizza and Puebla Chicken Tinga. The pizza, with a cauliflower crust, was just ok but I absolutely loved the Chicken Tinga. It is a hearty dished filled with quinoa, black beans, chayote, onions, peppers and shredded chicken topped with a spicy chipotle sauce. So warm and filling I could eat it nearly everyday.
I loved my first sample of Everytable and only wish there was a location a bit closer to me. I would have it made! Until that happens I’ll just have to enjoy it when I get the chance. I can taste the Chicken Tinga already!
