Gallery 1988 Releases Crazy 4 Cult 2
It’s no secret that I love Gallery 1988. I’m a pop culture nut and I love visiting their exhibits centered around some of my favorite people and things like Arrested Development, Steve Martin, Bill Murray and Woody Allen films. Recently, I was given a preview copy of a new book from the folks behind Gallery 1988 – Crazy 4 Cult 2.
Crazy 4 Cult 2 is the ultimate Gallery 1988 exhibit – a kind of free for all where awesome artists can choose their favorite cult film as a theme and create an amazing piece of art based on it. But what’s a soul to do if they missed the exhibit or (sadly) live outside of Southern California?
Well, now the answer is easy – they can buy the book! It’s full of amazing reproductions of these incredible works of art. Here’s a couple I really like:
That’s an homage to Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (by Glen Brogan) up top and everyone’s favorite lick-able wallpaper from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (by Clark Orr) on the bottom.
And Scott Pilgrim and Willy Wonka are but two of the many films featured in the book. You’ll find pretty much every genre represented by an original work. It’s really fun to leaf through and guess what film is coming next. Seriously, if I was Oprah, this would definitely be one of my favorite things for 2013.
