Having Dinner at Miceli’s Restaurant
Yesterday, I mentioned a recent trip to The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Well, that story is twofold because I never go there without stopping for a meal at the wonderful Miceli’s.
Miceli’s first began serving Italian dishes in 1949 and brands itself as “Hollywood’s Oldest Italian Restaurant.” I believe it because stepping inside is like stepping back in time.
Isn’t it fantastic? It’s what Bucca di Beppo tries to be…except it’s the real thing. I love to sit back in a booth and pretend I’m in the old days. Frank and Dean are gathered at the piano…Bogie and Bacall are sharing a pizza by candlelight…Judy’s about to belt out a number…
Honestly, I have no idea if any of the old stars ever set foot in Miceli’s but it’s fun to pretend. And lest you thing I go simply for the atmosphere…
They make a mean pizza, too!
