Having Dinner at Rance’s Chicago Pizza
It’s no secret I love pizza. I’ll go out of my way to get a good one and avoid most national chains. Recently I was invited to try Rance’s Chicago Pizza in Costa Mesa and happily made my way down there. I even brought along a pal with Chicago roots to see how it stacked up to the spots in the Windy City.
Hey! That’s not a pizza!
We actually started out with a house salad. Accompanying the salad was a quartet of dressings, all made in house. It was a refreshing start to the meal.
Then came the…
appetizers! We can’t forget the apps! Especially when they’re this tasty. Above are bruschetta and garlic cheese sticks. I was partial to the bruschetta – topped with fresh tomatoes, onions, feta, pesto and balsamic vinaigrette they were a delicious pre-meal snack.
After the appetizers we were served…
pizza! I loved, loved the top pie. Ham, pineapple and jalapenos. Ordinarily, being a wimp, I wouldn’t have thought of adding jalapenos to Hawaiian style pizza. But, man, it was a tasty addition! My friend was also super impressed the pizza was cut in squares…just like in Chicago!
Speaking of Chicago…you gotta have deep dish. And we had plenty. Check it out:
pizza, pizza everywhere! There were so many varieties and a whole plethora of ingredients. There even was stuffed crust! My favorite was the Rance’s Favorite.
Meatballs, bacon, and jalapeno’s. Jalapeno’s again! I’m going to need to rethink this. Apparently, I’m not a wimp after all.
Everything we had was so tasty. It also met the approval of my Chicago pal. When we left he was already planning a return visit.
