Los Angeles Conservancy Tour of the Arts District
It’s that time of year again! This Saturday the Los Angeles Conservancy is holding its semi-annual special tour and it’s all about the Arts District! Titled The Arts District: History and Architecture in Downtown LA it’s a comprehensive overview of this unique Los Angeles neighborhood.
I’ll actually be volunteering this time so I thought I’d share a little preview about one of the tour stops: 810 E. First Street. If you’re familiar to the area you may know this building as housing the shop Poketo and the restaurant Wurstkuche. What you probably don’t know is that it’s also home to a series of artists lofts.
On the day of the tour, visitors will be able to enter the building and visit the studios of two of the artists in residence – David Hollen and A.S. Ashley. Here’s a sneak peek at some of their works. The sculptures were done by Mr. Hollen and the paintings by Mr. Ashley.
Pretty impressive, right? And this is but a selection of what you’ll see on the day of the tour. There are 8 stops in total and they are an outstanding collection of historic architecture and contemporary artist studios. I, personally, cannot wait to start exploring this Sunday and I highly encourage you to check it out.
So be sure to head to the Arts District this Sunday and see it for yourself. Tickets are $35 and are available here.
