Mama Lion Opens in Koreatown
It’s no secret that I love a good cocktail. So when I hear about a new bar opening I tend to get excited. Lucky for me Mama Lion, one of LA’s most anticipated supper clubs, just opened and I was lucky enough to go to the preview party.

Mama Lion, located in the heart of Koreatown, is the brainchild of industry pros Robert Kim and Chef Michael Jung . Featuring an extensive cocktail menu, innovative bites and live entertainment it’s sure to be a hot spot. The preview party was jumping and with folks sampling their signature cocktails and finger foods. I was right there among them and had two of the best drinks I’ve had in a long time.

Made with cardamom infused vodka, kahlua, vanilla, cold brew and topped with a coconut foam the Black Swan is a most delicious dessert in drink form. Like the best spiked coffee ever it’s topped with creamy coconut foam in place of whipped cream. The generous serving made for a uniquely delicious drink that I can’t wait to have again.

Waiting a bit for round two I decided to try a sampling of their appetizers. The above Santa Barbara Uni Tostadita was pure perfection in a bite-full and I also loved the Truffled White Bean Hummus accompanied by rosemary thyme flatbread. I may have had several of those.

I decided to stick with vodka for the night and next tried the Doumi made with elderflower, lemon, raspberry and marquis super berry. It was about as different from the Black Swan as I could get but it was equally as delicious. Sweet and refreshing it’s the perfect drink for a warm evening. I predict it will be THE drink of the summer.
Mama Lion is a strikingly beautiful spot to visit on a night out. With an array of high quality cocktails and bites it’s really the whole package. I think I know where to celebrate my next birthday.
