Meeting Shag at WonderGround Gallery
It’s been awhile since I mentioned Shag (three years, wow!) but I’m still a big fan of his work. This past week a piece commissioned by Disney debuted at the WonderGround Gallery and he happened to be there signing his work. I, of course, had to go.
As you can see the piece is charming a homage to the Disneyland of old. The pirate ship was long gone by the time I started visiting but I have fond memories of the sky buckets. Man, I wish they still existed!
There were lots of items to choose from and as as he was only signing items purchased that day I had to sacrifice and buy myself a print. Darn it!
But a gal’s got to do what a gal’s got to do. My sister (an even bigger fan) and I then waited in line to meet the man behind the art. We waited for about an hour and soon it was almost our turn.
Shag and I…BFF’s.
Even though Shag won’t be there in person, the gallery does carry quite a bit of his work. It’s worth checking out whether you’re going to Disneyland or not.
