OC Dining News – Fresh Brothers, See’s Candies and more
disclosure: I was invited to sample the food at the locations in this piece.
I love LA but Orange County is also very dear to my heart. In recent years I’ve been super excited about all the dining news coming out of the area. Who’d have thought it’d be such a hotbed for cuisine?
Case in point, I recently checked out the very first Orange County Fresh Brothers.
Now I’ve been a fan of Fresh Brothers since I first sampled them way back in 2012 and I often found myself stopping by when when I was in Santa Monica, Redondo Beach, and beyond. Recently, they opened up a location in the heart of OC at the Harbor View Center in Newport Beach. I took my family there on opening day and we had a feast of delicious dishes.
Fresh Brothers, you’ve stolen my heart.
One place that’s no stranger to Orange County is See’s Candies. My favorite candy store has long had locations throughout the county and I’ve been enjoying it ever since my childhood. Even though it’s been around for years, Sees is still opening new shops and the very latest is in the Aliso Village shopping center in Laguna Niguel.
This brand spanking new store is both modern and retro with the modern light up menu board perfectly complementing the signature black and white tile floor (fun fact: the tile floor is an homage to Mary See’s home kitchen).
The candy is delicious as always. The store stocks a wide variety of favorites and will soon be selling the latest flavor – vanilla chip.
I even got to try my hand at putting together a box and, let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it looks!
Somehow I managed.
Another dining spot that’s established in Orange County is Corner Bakery Cafe. Recently, they unveiled some new breakfast items.
Chilled Swiss Oatmeal and Berry Pancakes are just two of the items you’ll find on their extensive breakfast menu.
Fresh Brothers is located at 1616 San Miguel Drive, Newport Beach. See’s Candies Aliso Viejo is located at 23956 Aliso Creek Road, Laguna Niguel. Corner Bakery Cafe has various locations throughout the county.
All that food looks so delicious! I was really pleasantly surprised that See’s has stores in Minnesota and we don’t have to rely on relatives to send us boxes when we have a craving anymore 🙂 I don’t know what they do to that candy, but it’s the best!
See’s is the best! According to them, the difference is that they age the chocolate. Who’d have thought?
Aw, man, I LOVE me some See’s Candies….the key lime truffle…the Bordeaux…the mocha truffle…AND after pizza? Heck yea! =D
