Reading The Snoopy Treasures
This holiday weekend has been quite the lazy one for me. After working 12+ hours days prior to Thanksgiving I’ve spent the time after relaxing. Catching up on the DVR, listening to podcasts and reading books has been the bulk of my activity. One book I was happy to finally dive into was the The Snoopy Treasures by Nat Gertler. A life long Peanuts fan I was sent a complimentary copy to review.
Snoopy and I go way back. In fact, there are baby pictures of me snuggling up to my Snoopy doll (which I still have). I’ve long been a fan of the long nosed beagle and his owner the Round-Headed Kid.
The Snoopy Treasures is the perfect book for fans like me. Written by Peanuts expert (and SoCal resident!) Nat Gertler it dives into all aspects of the world’s most famous dog.
I learned about Snoopy’s various careers, his companions both human and animal and his adventures beyond the comic strip. There are so many aspects of Snoopy I never new about like his brief motocross career, his days as dancer extraordinaire Flashbeagle and his possession of a priceless Van Gogh. I did know about his early years on the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm and was happy to see tributes to his brothers and sisters.
Included in the book are various pieces of ephemera from Snoopy’s long tenure.
Reproductions of authentic Peanuts artifacts they’re a fun edition to the book.
With Christmas around the corner The Snoopy Treasures is a fun gift for any Peanuts fan. In fact, I know someone who this is just right for and he may be seeing it under his tree in a few weeks.
