Wild Alaskan Halibut Now Available at Rubio’s
Back in the day, I wasn’t a fan of Ruibio’s fish taco’s because they were battered and I prefer grilled fish. Luckily, times change and the restaurant changed with it and now offers a wide variety of sustainable seafood on its menu. Recently, it added Wild Alaskan Halibut and I was lucky enough to be invited to try the new dishes made with it
The Wild Alaskan Halibut is available for a limited time as a two taco plate, burrito and bowl. On my first visit I was in a bit of a hurry and grabbed a burrito to go. Filled with the halibut, citrus rice, black beans, guacamole, cabbage, corn salsa, cilantro, onions and chipotle white sauce it made for a hearty meal. The grilled halibut was abundant, there was a generous portion of tasty guacamole, and the outside of the burrito was grilled (which is an extra touch that I always appreciate). It was absolutely delicious and I quickly devoured it.
On my next visit I had a bit more time on my hands so I ordered the Wild Alaskan Halibut Bowl and ate at the restaurant. I just have to say Rubio’s commitment to offering healthy eating really impresses me. Not only do they serve sustainable seafood but there’s a variety of menu options for those with various dietary needs. And I love that they serve three different kinds of unsweetened iced tea and offer raw sugar. It’s like they read my mind!
Anyway, back to the halibut. My bowl arrived filled with citrus rice, black beans, corn salsa, chipotle white sauce, salsa verde, fresh avocado slices and two halibut fillets. Like the burrito it was absolutely delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and filled with flavor and I loved it.
I have to say the Wild Alaskan Halibut meals are fast becoming my favorite Rubio’s menu items. I’m sad they’re only available for a limited time and will definitely be heading back for more. I still need to try the two taco platter!
