Summer Cocktail Hour with Midori Melon Liqueur
It’s summertime! Time for a cocktail! Admittedly, I think any season is perfect for a cocktail but there’s just something about having a chilled drink on a warm summer evening. Recently, I was sent a bottle of Midori Melon Liqueur to try out on some new drinks so I headed over to my best buds’ house and we started experimenting.
We started out simple with a Midori Margarita. Combining the melon liqueur with tequila and lime made for an electric looking concoction. Midori adds a dose of sweetness to the traditional margarita and it was a tasty way to start the evening.
We then moved on to the Fuzzy Melon Ball combining Midori with peach schnapps and orange juice.
It may look like a simple glass of orange juice but it’s actually packed with tropical flavor. The ingredients blended perfectly and this was my favorite drink of the evening.
The Electric Popsicle then followed. Combining the liqueur with Blue Curacao, 7-Up and lime it was a bit too sweet for me but my friends enjoyed it. With that deep green color it’s the perfect drink for St. Paddy’s Day!
We ended with a Midori Sunrise substituting the traditional tequila with the liqueur. I’m not a fan of the Tequila Sunrise and this beautiful drink was definitely an improvement on the original.
Midori Melon Liqueur proved to be a versatile ingredient for a variety of drinks. Not typically a melon fan I’d avoided it in the past but have now realized I do enjoy it. I’m sure I’ll be using it again for future concoctions.
