Taco Superior – Enjoying Lunch at Taco Adobe
The Orange Circle area has a surprisingly large number of Mexican restaurants. Just off the top of my head I can think of four. Four in about a two block area! That’s a lotta south of the border eats. Fortunately, I’m here to help you decide which one to pick when you’ve got a craving for some Mexican food. For one of these restaurants rises far above the rest – Taco Adobe.
I came upon Taco Adobe quite by chance. I was driving down Chapman one day when I happened to glance to my right and see their sign. Tucked on a side street in what looks to be a former residence, it’s a blink and you’ll miss it spot. Well, I’m here to tell you – DO NOT BLINK. Because, if you do you’ll miss out on some of the best Mexican eats in town.
First comes the complimentary chips and salsa. Now, I love me some chips and salsa. I can almost make a whole meal of it. Sadly, it’s a simple dish that’s often hit and miss. You know what I mean – Tostitos instead of homemade chips, Pace instead of homemade salsa, too much spice, not enough spice, stale chips….I could go on and on. Well, Taco Adobe does it right! The chips are perfectly crisp and fresh and the salsa. Oh, the salsa! Made with roasted peppers and lots of other good stuff, it is so, so tasty. Now, I’d show you a pic but I dug in before I remembered to pull out my camera.
Luckily, I did grab it in time for the entrees.
Doesn’t that look so good! Now, when I was but a child I hated enchiladas. Can you believe it??? Now, they’re my go to dish at a Mexican restaurant. And Taco Adobe does it right. And for under ten bucks, it’s a bargain to boot. Just look at it, don’t you just want to reach right in and taste it? On the bottom is my sister’s carnitas. She gives them two thumbs up.
Well, I’ve waxed rhapsodic about Taco Adobe enough. You get the picture. Just, go there please. I don’t want this great restaurant to ever go away.
