Trying Out the New Menu at Mimi’s Cafe
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to attend a blogger event at Mimi’s Cafe (thanks Erin!). The new owners wanted us to try out the changes to the menu. Wait, what? Mimi’s Cafe is under new ownership? I had no idea.
Although I’ve been going to Mimi’s Cafe ever since I was a little kid in recent years I had reduced my visits to just the breakfast hours. Their lunch and dinner menus just did nothing for me. So, I was excited to try out the new menu and see if they could woo me back.
First we started with a little champagne topped with St. Germain. Luring me in with my favorite liqueur? Nice job Mimi’s.
On the top is a seafood crepe and the bottom is baked brie with some apricot chutney on top. They were both quite tasty but I lurved the brie. I’m a brie nut (that’s two points for ya Mimi’s) and the chutney was the perfect topper.
For dinner we ordered off the menu and I went with a steak dish. Vague, I know, but I honestly don’t remember the name.
Hey! That’s not a steak!
Got ya! That’s actually the side salad that came with it. Doesn’t it look refreshing?
Here’s the steak. It came with mushroom scalloped potatoes and brussel sprouts with bacon. Ok, Mimi’s now you’re starting to scare me. How did you know brussel sprouts were my favorite vegetable????
But seriously, the entire dish was very, very good. It was certainly not the Mimi’s food I was used to. Kudos to you, Mimi’s Cafe.
But wait…there’s more! That night I was given a $25 gift card in order to try out the new breakfast menu. So I took myself (and my trusty sidekick, Shannon) over to Mimi’s Cafe to give it a whirl.
First off, an iced mocha.
No changes to this, thank goodness, as it’s my go to breakfast drink.
I decided to go out on a limb and try the Croque Madame Waffles: two mini herb waffles, topped with ham, swiss cheese, Mornay sauce, and fried eggs.
This dish was quite rich. So much so that I couldn’t finish it. Tasty, but rich. I probably wouldn’t order it again. But what I WOULD order again (and again and again) are the Provencal Potatoes.
I was a fan of Mimi’s old potatoes but these are fantastic! So, so yummy. You can bet I didn’t leave one potato on that plate.
Overall, I’m quite impressed with the new Mimi’s Cafe menu. I’ll no longer be avoiding it for lunch and dinner.
Hi there, just so you know, you can substitute your toast for a muffin at no additional cost!

Hooray! Guess I read the menu wrong.
That’s because the new menu didn’t start until Oct 9 in all locations
