Visiting the Old Orange County Courthouse
I may wander Los Angeles and write about it’s many treasures but Orange County also has a special place in my heart. It’s my hometown er…county and the home of many wonderful memories. The Old Orange County Courthouse was a required field trip spot when I was in school and to this day I still visit it. Recently, I headed there to check out a wonderful photography exhibit – Paul Outerbridge: New Color Photographs from Mexico and California, 1948-1955.
Paul Outerbridge was a famous fashion photographer in the early part of the 20th century. During the period of these photos he was a resident of Laguna Beach and these images beautifully capture California and Mexico at the Mid Century mark. Here’s a few of my favorites.
Man, I wish I could have had a meal at Lulu Belle!
Whenever I go to the Old Orange County Courthouse I need to make a stop in the historic courtroom.
I love stepping into this perfectly preserved piece of Orange County history. As I wander the room I imagine the cases that went down here. I see the judge in his chamber…
and the jury carefully deliberating someone’s fate.
I’m so glad this important piece of Orange County history was saved and highly recommend a visit whether you’re an OC native or not.
