Celebrating Care Bears at CREAM

Growing up I loved Care Bears so when i was invited to try their new ice cream collab with CREAM I was super excited. And then I realized I already had plans that night. Womp womp. Luckily, my good pal Mary of Along Comes Mary stepped in and got all the details.

Being an 80’s kid, I grew up loving the Care Bears. I vividly recall the dismay in our household when my VHS of the Care Bears Movie unraveled. We had to rush to the video store (remember those?) to get me a new copy. Pair that with some ice cream, and baby Mary was a happy camper. So, you can imagine how excited I was to head out to CREAM NoHo last week to check out their current partnership with the one and only Care Bears!

From now through March 31st, CREAM will exclusively be featuring two fun and delicious ice cream sandwiches perfect for kids. And their 80’s parents! First up, they have the Lucky Care Bear sandwich. Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, this decadent treat boasts a shamrock sprinkled double chocolate chip cookie, CREAM’s mint chip ice cream and a topping of your choice. Not in the mood for chocolate? Try the Care Bear Berry. This sweet treat has you noshing on shamrock butter cookies with strawberry ice cream and again, a topping of your pick. My husband, Mike, opted for the Lucky Care Bear sandwich and he was not disappointed.

One of the best parts about this fun campaign is the throwback to “Collect Them All.” Each Care Bears sandwich purchase comes with an adorable Care Bears trading card. Whether you are young or grown, who doesn’t love a prize with their ice cream?!

CREAM is slowly becoming a favorite across the states. With locations throughout California (Chico, Fresno, Downtown LA) as well as Nevada, Colorado and Florida, I had yet to experience just what the fuss was all about. Shortly after entering their North Hollywood shop, I knew why.

With the common “Build Your Own” environment, CREAM enables ice cream lovers of all ages to build their own ice cream sandwich. Best part? If you are gluten free and/or dairy free, they have you covered! While I was not able to partake in the Care Bears treats, the CREAM staff was so kind and accommodating. Feeling a bit overwhelmed with my options, I decided on gluten-free chocolate chip cookies with their French vanilla. Creamy and rich, let’s just say our CREAM stop turned into our dinner!

With co-founder, Gus Shamieh, on hand to chat, he told us how CREAM began in his hometown of Berkeley. Using beloved family recipes, the Shamieh family are committed to bringing families the best ice cream sandwiches around. After our first taste with the Care Bears, I think it’s safe to say that they are succeeding! Find your nearest CREAM location HERE and make sure to stop in by March 31st to try out a Care Bears treat!
