Dinner at Oggi’s Sports|Brewhouse|Pizza

Ah the joys of a road trip – seeing beautiful sites, trying new things and a whole lot of adventure. It can also be pretty tiring as I found out when I recently returned from a week long adventure around California (which I can’t wait to share with you). Back home I didn’t want to do anything especially when it came to the kitchen. Make dinner? Ugh. Lucky for me I was invited to Oggi’s Sports|Brewhouse|Pizza for a delicious meal in honor of their 25th anniversary.

Founded in 1991 in Del Mar, Oggi’s has several locations throughout Southern California and has been serving up fresh pizza and brews for over two decades. I’ve passed by the restaurants several times throughout my travels but, until last week, had never stopped inside. So, one evening my mom and I headed over to the Garden Grove location to try out their menu.

Now, I can’t go to a brewery without sampling some of their offerings so I made sure to order a flight.  My mom and I tried a range of options including the new Anniversary Ale. An Orange Wheat beer infused with citrus it was perfectly refreshing. I’m also partial to dark beer so I tried their McGarvey’s Scottish Ale. Thick and smooth with a hint of sweetness it was delicious.

Since Oggi’s is known for their pizza we decided to split a pie and ordered one of their signatures salads as a starter.

The Mediterranean Delight Salad was the perfect way to start our meal. Generously portioned and topped with garbanzo beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, feta cheese and a freshly grilled chicken breast with homemade lemon herb Greek dressing on the side it was fresh and flavorful. It also came accompanied with a delicious garlic knot which I eagerly devoured.

Oggi’s offers a variety of specialty pizzas as well as a build it yourself option. We decided to try The Works topped with pepperoni, sausage, red onion, bell peppers and fresh tomatoes. It was chock full of ingredients and pretty darn tasty. The only downside was the crust which a bit bland.

Overall, my mom and I very much enjoyed our dinner at Oggi’s. Not only did we escape having to make our meal that night but we found a new go to spot for pizza and brews.
