Enjoying Holiday Cheer at Pacific Hideaway’s Miracle at Surf City Pier
Let me tell you, I’m currently filled with holiday cheer. It’s my favorite time of year and my presents are bought, my sister has made a busload of delicious cookies, I’ve got carols on repeat and the weather is just cool enough for me to enjoy it. One of my favorite things to do this time of year is go out and enjoy the seasonal atmosphere – I just love how everything is covered in Christmas! Last week, my sister, Shannon, and I enjoyed a double dose of yuletide fun when we were invited to Pacific Hideaway in Huntington Beach to experience Miracle at Surf City Pier.
Miracle is a Christmas themed pop-up bar that, during the holiday season, takes over various locations around the world. A couple of years ago I visited the LA version and was instantly smitten so I was definitely excited to check out Miracle at Surf City Pier.
Pacific Hideaway is located in the Kimpton Shorebreak Resort near the Huntington Beach Pier. We arrived one recent evening and headed straight to the bar but something felt off – there were no decorations! We checked with the bartender who advised we should walk down a nearby hallway and make a left and when we did we came across a familiar sight.
If Frosty’s in the house it must be the right place. And sure enough, once inside we found ourselves surrounded by Christmas lights and decorations galore. In the corner was a small bar and we sidled up to place our orders.
I opted for the Run Run Rudolph which featured gin, mulled wine, lemon and prosecco while Shannon opted for the Christmas Carol Barrel with rum, aquavit, amaro, pumpkin pie and lemon. Both were a delicious dose of liquid Christmas. Filled with citrus and spice they were the perfect concoctions to fill us with holiday spirit.
Since, the Shorebreak is located near the pier it offers the perfect opportunity for coastal views. Miracle makes full use of this with a wrap around balcony offering unobstructed views off the Pacific.
Isn’t it beautiful? We enjoyed the view so much that we decided to stay out there and enjoy our drinks.
I decided to have one last drink and opted for the Christmapolitan with vodka, elderflower, vermouth, cranberry sauce, rosemary, lime and absinthe. Much more botanically inspired than the previous drinks it was equally as delicious.
Miracle at Surf City Pier is the epitome of a SoCal Christmas – lots of cheery decor combined with ocean breezes. It’s the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit. You can visit the bar Thursday- Monday from 5-11 p.m through the holidays. Have a holly jolly time!
