Having Dinner at Full of Life Flatbread

On of my favorite places in the Santa Ynez valley is the town of Los Alamos. This old fashioned spot is home to some of the best food in Southern California (hello Bell Street Farm!). One place I’d been dying to try is Full of Life Flatbread Pizza.

Full of Life Flatbread Pizza produces frozen pizzas that you’ll find in your local Whole Foods. But I didn’t visit Los Alamos to tour their factory. Nope. I went to eat at their restaurant. It’s only open in the evenings Thursday thru Sunday and is a definite foodie destination.

See that wood burning oven? That’s right in the restaurant and you can watch the cooks preparing your meal as you wait. Now flatbread pizza is the king of the menu but they also have a delicious assortment of appetizers and dessert.

For our appetizer we went with the Fried Heirloom Tomatoes.

They came perfectly ripe and perfectly fried with some crunchy, vinegary green beans and a tasty aioli. They were the perfect starter to the main meal – flatbread!

From the top that’s Shaman Bread, Cheese and Herb, Mushroom and Carmelized Onion, and Fire-Roasted Tomato Salsa. Wowwowwow! These were amazing! The crust was perfectly baked and the toppings were outstanding. The Shaman Bread has a mixture of herbs and nuts which I thought I wouldn’t like. Oh, but I did. It was so so good!

But I had to stop myself from gorging on the bread because I wanted to order dessert. I went with the Los Alamos S’more because, frankly, I can never resist a s’more.

It was chocolate espresso cookies topped with a homemade marshmallow that was then roasted in the wood fired oven. So yummy! My sister went with White Chocolate Mousse with Plums and she let me try a bite.

Delicious!

Top it all off with outstanding service by the friendly staff and it was a dinner to remember.
