Learning to Shoot at Guns and Ammo Garage in Las Vegas

Let me preface this by saying guns scare the heck out of me. I don’t own a gun and in fact (until this visit) I had never even seen one in person. But…I’ve long been interested in visiting a shooting gallery. Not the carnival kid. Those I’m quite familiar with. I’m talking about the kind where you shoot a real, honest to goodness gun. So when I was offered the chance to visit Guns and Ammo Garage in Las Vegas and try out the facilities…well I couldn’t resist saying yes.

Guns and Ammo Garage is just off the Strip and even offers a shuttle to hotel guests. It’s a fairly new facility and is the first local range to cater to tourists rather than resident gun enthusiasts. Because of that, it has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The employees are very helpful and offer packages that will suit each individual’s interest.

Since I was invited by Guns and Ammo Garage to try it out I got to pick which guns I wanted to try. I went for an old school revolver, the typical law enforcement Glock and a Tommy Gun since I was fresh off my visit to The Mob Museum.

Now every visitor the the gun range is assisted by a range safety officer. Guns and Ammo Garage takes great pains in making your visit as safe as it could possibly be. The air inside is refreshed frequently and the safety officer is with you at all times. My safety officer was awesome and took care to assist me in every way. He loaded my guns, taught me the proper stances and how to aim, and was right by my side the entire time.

Because I want to show how my experience went I’m going to sacrifice my dignity and share some pictures of my experience. You can only imagine how red my face is right now.

Whew! Glad that’s over. Anyway, I ended up having a really good time at Guns and Ammo Garage. My visit far exceeded my expectations. Every employee was friendly and helpful. I even met the owner, Darby, and had a great conversations with him not only about his facilities but also about Vegas history in general (his family dates back to the 1940’s!). If you are curious about trying out a gun range, Guns and Ammo Garage is the place to go.

I live near this gun range. Do they have like a newbie package? I don’t have a gun I don’t even know how to use one.

It’s better to be prepared with a gun than to end up in a life threatening situation without one.

    Hey Melanie,
Must’ve been a good ‘first’ experience in Vegas. Glad to know that visitors are being assisted by a range safety officer.
