Mixing Up Some Cocktails With Owl’s Brew

It’s Friday and you know what that means – it’s five o’clock somewhere!

Now I love to go out and try a new watering hole but that can get a bit pricey. Plus, it’s fun to stay in and gab with friends while snacking on apps and mixing up cocktails.  Recently, I came across a new tea cocktail mixer that I was excited to try – Owl’s Brew and was generously given a couple of bottles to sample.

I first discovered Owl’s Brew at Expo West and was instantly smitten. I’m always down for a good cuppa and the idea of combining it with liquor seemed like a match made in heaven. At the Expo I tried a sample of The Original mixed with bourbon and lurved it.  I also met the owner’s of Owl’s Brew, fellow tea-thusiasts Jennie and Maria. They were looking for a lighter cocktail mixer and decided to give tea a try. The result is a fresh brewed and all natural product with three main ingredients – tea, water, and agave. It comes in three flavors: The Original, Coco-lada, and Pink & Black.

On a recent Friday night I headed over to my best buds’ house to give the drinks a whirl. Luckily, we were given handy dandy recipes to try out.

First up: Owl’s Pina. We mixed up two parts Coco-lada and one part rum.

Coco-lada

Now the Coco-lada is black tea with pineapple, coconut, and chai spices. Mixed with the rum, it was quite a tasty concoction.

After our first success we moved on to the BrewLaLa – one part Pink & Black brew and one part pilsner with a little margarita salt and lime thrown in for good measure.

Y-y-y-y-owza! This is a new favorite of mine. Darjeeling tea, hibiscus, and strawberry mixed with beer is amazing. Really, truly. All three of us loved it. So light, so refreshing, so tasty!

Tea cocktails are definitely a fabulous idea. Owl’s Brew, I love you.

In SoCal you can find Owl’s Brew at BevMo and West Elm. You can also purchase it online here.
