Simply Santa Ynez

Well my friends, we’ve come to the end. It’s been a long journey, we’ve seen some great sites, and now it’s time to say good-bye to the Santa Ynez Valley. I can think of no better to town to end our journey in than the its namesake town of Santa Ynez.

Santa Ynez is a small town that dates back to the 1800’s with many of the original storefronts remaining on its quaint main road. The highlight of the town is the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum which is devoted to the history of the valley – particularly its stagecoach past.

The museum admission is a mere $4 per person. It’s a total steal as the entire space is quite lovely and holds an extensive collection of artifacts. You’ll find exhibits devoted to each town that inhabits the valley as well as its ranching past.

There’s also an interesting collection of hats donated by a local resident.

But by far, the highlight of the museum is its carriage house. In here you’ll find many historical vehicles: carriages, stagecoaches, wagons, and even cars are all on display. The carriage house is huge and the collection is impressive. We spent such a long time in there looking at all the beautiful vehicles.

These are just a fraction of what’s on display. Seriously! It’s quite impressive!

Our visit to the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum was a fitting end to our wonderful vacation. I very much enjoyed my stay in the valley and can’t wait to go back. I hope you all have a chance to visit, too!
