Speedy Service! Breakfast at The Original Pantry Cafe

I love landmark restaurants. If a restaurant has been in business for 30+ years it’s a must visit for me. That being said, I must admit I had never eaten at The Original Pantry Cafe until recently. I know! How did I avoid it for so long? Beats me, but I’m sure glad I finally made it.

The Pantry has been in existence since 1924 and in all that time it has never closed and never been without a customer. Pretty impressive, huh? I know from my experience that every time I’ve driven by, there’s been a line out the door. Every. Single. Time.

Naturally, when I went I did wait in line. The cool thing is, the line moves very quickly. I waited no more than 10 minutes to get in the door. Once in, I sat at the counter and was immediately approached by our server. It was breakfast time and what’s interesting is there are no hand held menus. The breakfast menu is posted on boards throughout the restaurant. After perusing it a bit, I settled on eggs, toast and potatoes. My companion decided on French toast, eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Within five minutes (no joke!) we were served. These guys do not mess around! Now I know why the line outside moved so quickly.

one potato
two potato
dang potato, quit being such a camera hog!

Just look at that bounty! And that doesn’t even include my toast! It was good too! And cheap! My dish came to less than $5. The french toast meal was just under $10 (due to the bacon). Needless to say, I did not eat lunch.

I can now say I visited the Pantry – and will definitely be back! So check it out and be astounded by cheap good food served at warp speed. You won’t regret it.
