Seasonal Delight – Catching an Exhibit at The Loft at Liz’s
Fun Fact #1 – I’m an art history major. Fun Fact #2 – I do not work in the art industry. Oh yes, I am one of the many who have done nothing with their college degrees. But, just because I haven’t used it doesn’t mean that I still don’t appreciate art. I still love museums and galleries and exhibits and am totally delighted when I discover a new one. And that’s just what happened when I visited The Loft at Liz’s last week for their current exhibit – The Four Seasons of Flora and Spice.
Now I had never visited The Loft at Liz’s before and was totally intrigued when I found that it was above an antique store. I figured it’d be your typical antique retailer with a grandma’s attic ambiance. WRONG! Liz’s Antique Hardware specializes in…well…hardware. Old doorknobs, keyholes, lighting, cabinetry…they’ve got it all. And lots of it! It’s a fascinating place to wander around.
But that’s not what I’m hear to write about because if you climb the staircase at the back of the store you will find the gallery The Loft at Liz’s. It’s a small space that hosts a variety of art exhibitions. Their current show, The Four Seasons of Flora and Spice, explores the four seasons through a variety of floral motifs.

I do apologize for my terrible photographs (I know I sound like a broken record).
This is but a portion of the many works on display. As you can see a variety of mediums were used. From painting, to drawing, to collage to even a small room filled with living plants…the exhibit had it all. It was fun to wander around and view various artists interpretations of the same theme. No two were alike or even similar. But all pieces were lovely and well worth viewing. I highly recommend a stop by.
The exhibit runs through June 26 and admission is free!

Cool exhibits! I haven’t been in an art museum in years…to actually look at art. I did go to the Birmingham Museum of Art a couple of weeks ago to have lunch at the cafe there. Will have to go back sometimes and take in some of the art. And more of the food.
Blessings,
Christa
The labels are interesting but I especially like the one right above it (the one in the middle). If I were in LA, I’d definitely check it out. Thanks for sharing!
Visiting from SITS. Cheers!
That’s only a small part of the piece. Since it was the exhibits opening the tiny gallery was crowded and I could only capture a corner with my camera. But, I can attest the entire work was lovely.
It looks like a really fun exhibit. Too bad I won’t be in California any time soon. Thanks for sharing, though.
Stopping by from SITS. Have a great weekend.
