Spending the Afternoon in San Luis Obispo
When my sister and I take a road trip we feel the journey itself is part of the adventure. As such, we stop at any place that strikes our fancy. While driving along Highway 101 we decided to stop in San Luis Obispo. Neither of us had ever explored it before so we thought we’d check it out.
We found a bustling downtown filled with historic buildings, unique shops and restaurants and lots of beautiful green space.
One spot we happened upon was Batch – a tiny ice cream sandwich bar.
We split a tasty treat and continued on our way. Next we spotted the History Center of San Luis Obispo County.
This small museum is housed in a beautifully restored Carnegie Library. For a nominal fee you can look at their interesting exhibits on San Luis Obispo history.
After this we stopped at Mission San Luis Obispo. We try to visit a California mission on each of our trips and this was our latest find.
It’s located in the heart of town and is one of the smaller missions. No matter, it’s quite beautiful and filled with history.
Before we knew it, it was time to hit the road again and continue our journey to Carmel. We left San Luis Obispo happy that we had discovered another California gem.
