Strolling Down Center Street Anaheim
When I was growing up it was all about the mall. Who wants to go to Main Street and shop when there’s a big air conditioned mall full of everyone’s favorite chain stores? Now the mall is passe and we seem to be returning to Main Street. I, for one, couldn’t be happier as I love strolling down the street visiting independent shops and supporting local businesses.
One area that’s been undergoing a Main Street makeover is Center Street Anaheim. Once a nondescript street with a few fast food joints it’s now the hub of an Anaheim renaissance. Independent restaurants and shops line the street – each one more fascinating than the last.
There’s the Center Street Cheese Shop – sister shop to the one at The OC Mix.
I can’t resist stopping in and grabbing a slice of my favorite d’affinois cheese.
There’s also the unique food court appropriately titled Good Food.
Inside is a quartet of food stands – Healthy Junk, Delifornia, K & A Downtown Cafe, and Cervantes Mexican Kitchen.
On my last visit I stopped by Healthy Junk for some vegan chili.
So, so yummy. And I can’t resist the fun decorations sprinkled throughout the space.
But, my absolute favorite spot on Center Street is Ink & Beam – an espresso bar with a literary theme.
Inside there’s amazing decor made of old books and typewriters, fun literary themed items to buy, and, of course, handcrafted espresso drinks.
And outside is a fabulous airstream filled with free books.
How I love it so!
Center Street Anaheim is a hidden gem but it shouldn’t be. It should be well known so that it grows and thrives and everyone can come and enjoy it. Head on down, have a good time, and tell your friends!
