Summer Fun at Universal Studios Hollywood

Ah, summer. The season Southern California was made for…and I’m stuck inside working. I can’t complain. Thanks to long daylight hours and free weekends I’m still able to get out there and have some fun (when I’m not battling an out of season cold, argh!). One place I’ve managed to get to is Universal Studios Hollywood. With some fun new additions at both the park and CityWalk there’s always something to see and I was lucky enough to be invited to check them out.

I must admit I don’t wear makeup too often but every time I’m in Sephora I want to buy ALL the things. Recently, they opened a new 6,269 foot store at Universal City Walk and it’s chock full of treats.

Not only are there tons of brands for sale but they’ve really got every beauty need covered with both makeovers and facials available. Plus they also offer beauty classes with subjects that range from brow shaping, to achieving a smoky eye to applying false eyelashes. How cool is that?

Just across the promenade from Sephora is Nectar Bath Treats. Prior to my visit, I wasn’t familiar with the pant based & cruelty free beauty brand that’s been taking Vegas by storm and, in fact, this is the first California location. Inside you’ll find a variety of beauty products that look good enough to eat!

But don’t take a bite because these cuties are bath bombs, soaps and moisturizers. In addition, you can create personalized lotions, soaps and shampoos to take home. Of course, I had to try it out.

I made a combination Milk & Honey and English Pear scented body butter that smells oh so good. In fact, I’ve been using it every night and my skin is loving it.

Of course, not all the fun is on the City Walk. Inside the park is the new DreamWorks Theatre featuring “Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest” and I was lucky enough to be one of the first people to ride it.

Going in I figured ti was going to be a short 3D film but, boy, was I wrong. It’s an honest to goodness interactive adventure! I unsuspectingly sat in a a theatre seat but son found myself on an exciting adventure with Po and his pals. The wind was blowing in my face and I was splashed with water as I tumbled over river rapids and battled bad guys. It was a lot of fun!

If you’re looking for some fun this summer head on over to Universal Studios Hollywood and CityWalk to check out what’s new. I can’t wait to go back. I heard a rumor about some Butterbeer ice cream in Hogsmeade and I just have to try it!
