Viewing LA Follies at Next Door Lounge

Man, I love a good speakeasy. Some may say it’s a gimmick but I don’t care. Fun decor, delicious cocktails, a wink at the past…what’s not too love? (Aside from the prices, depression era they are not).

Recently, I was invited to visit the Next Door Lounge in Hollywood to view the inaugural performance of LA Follies.

LA Follies is a dance ensemble that is heavily inspired by the Roaring 20’s. For their residency at Next Door Lounge they offer short dance pieces that are sprinkled throughout the night’s entertainment. On my visit, I was able to view three performances and they were all quite entertaining.

These ladies really know how to cut a rug!

Since we happened to be at a speakeasy I was able to sample a couple of cocktails.

And apparently I only took a photo of one of them. The cocktails are creations of Zac Henry and are made with in house barrel aged spirits. Razzle Dazzle! My only complaint was that I could only sample them because I had to drive home. Next time I’m bringing a designated driver.

The lounge also provides an array of bar bites to satisfy your hunger. I recommend the sliders and sweet potato fries. They’re the cat’s pajamas.

Food, drink and dance – what better way to spend a night out? And as a bonus, if you give the doorman the secret catch phrase “these dames ain’t a dime a dozen” you’ll score a 10 cent glass of champagne. Hotcha! That’s the bee’s knees!
