Viewing the Ralph L. Tomlinson Antique Toy Collection

Often my mom will give me a toy for Christmas or my birthday. She’s always said, “you’re never too old for toys” and she’s so right. To this day I still treasure my Barbie doll collection and my plush animals.

Recently, I was at Chapman University to view the Huell Howser Archives. They’re located in the Leatherby Libraries which turn out to have a treasure trove of artifacts – Disney memorabilia, Chuck Jones artwork, and vintage tourist paraphernalia are but a few of the items you’ll see on display. My personal favorite was the Ralph L. Tomlinson Antique Toy Collection.

Ralph L. Tomlinson was an Orange County native who was an avid toy collector. Shortly before he died he donated a portion of his toy collection to Chapman University and some of the highlights are on display.

Isn’t that a beautiful bike? And see the picture in the upper left? It’s the same bike with the original owner (I presume).

There’s also an abundance of tin toys which I absolutely love. Here’s a few of my favorites:

I want them all! I especially love the Ol’ Jalopies. Very Archie Andrews!

I’m so happy I came across this hidden gem. A treasure trove of toys smack dab in the heart of Orange County!
