Aquarium Holidays Comes to Aquarium of the Pacific
Every year I’m determined to finish my Christmas shopping by Thanksgiving so that I can fully embrace the holiday season. Whether it’s baking cookies, watching Christmas flicks or spending time with friends and family I want to enjoy it stress free. One of my favorite activities is heading out and joining local holiday celebrations whether they be at historic homes, amusement parks or even watering holes. This year, I again achieved my goal and already enjoyed my first holiday excursion at Aquarium Holidays at Aquarium of the Pacific.
I must admit Aquarium of the Pacific was not the first place I thought of to celebrate the holidays but when they invited me to come by I was certainly intrigued. How do marine animals celebrate the season?
How about a visit from Santa Diver? When you come to the aquarium you can find him visiting the marine life in the Honda Blue Cavern. He’s also happy to pose for pictures with humans and if you wait long enough you’ll experience a special treat as throughout the day snow will fall in the Great Hall. Just look for the giant Christmas tree and wait for some holiday magic.
When Santa Diver isn’t underwater he’s handing out treats to several of the aquarium’s inhabitants. and if you visit December 7 & 8 you can catch him in the act. Sea otters, sea lions, penguins and more will received special deliveries during the Holiday Treats Festival.
If you’re not in the mood to visit Santa Diver how about one of the aquarium’s adorable mascots?
Throughout Aquarium Holidays they’ll be decked out in their winter finest and happy to pose for pictures.
Speaking of pictures how would you like to snap a shot of a real live penguin? Also during Aquarium Holidays you can catch the Penguin Parade where the cute creatures will leave their exhibit and parade through the aquarium.
I’m so happy I was able to visit Aquarium of the Pacific and experience all that Aquarium Holidays has to offer. The official event runs December 7-23 and is sure to be a real treat for the entire family. And if you bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Long Beach Fire Department Spark of Love Toy Drive you’ll get a coupon for $10 off adult admission ($3 off children) for up to four people. A discounted admission and holiday fun? What a great way to celebrate the season.
