Having Dinner at Fala Bar

So it’s been about a month since my cleanse…I’m back to eating meat but find myself having more vegan meals than before. Not a bad thing. Recently I was invited to try out vegan spot in the heart of Los Angeles, Fala Bar.

Fala Bar

Fala Bar is located on Melrose near Fairfax and is a quaint falafel bar.  Step inside, place your order, and enjoy your meal to go or at one of their cute patio tables. On my visit I opted for the latter as it was a lovely summer evening.

Fala Bar

The highlight of the menu is the falafel. It comes in four varieties (original, sweet potato, spicy, and crunchy) and is made to order. I tried three of the four (they were out of sweet potato, darn!) and boy are they tasty! The spicy had a bit too much heat for me but the original and crunchy were out of this world.

The menu offers a variety of options for your falafel consumption. You can have them on sandwiches, plates, salads, or snacks. Snacks? Yup, there are small items for those on the go who just need a quick bite. I tried the fabulous Gigi’s Snack Cup.

It’s a to go cup filled with layers of brussel sprout salad, hummus, quinoa tabouli, israeli salad, tahini and your choice of falafel. It’s really a perfect, healthy snack. But who is this Gigi? She’s actually the menu curator. She also happens to be a holistic health coach so you can rest assured you are getting the best possible fuel for your system. I had the pleasure of meeting her and she knows her stuff (she’s also super nice, too).

Since it was dinner time I also tried one of their plates – Fala Me to Runyon. This hearty meal was chock full of goodness – brussel sprouts, mixed greens, quinoa tabouli, avocado, israeli salad, tahini, and white cabbage. Topped off with falafel it was incredibly delicious. I could not possibly eat it all in one sitting so I took the rest for lunch the next day and it was just as good as the night before.

What more could I ask for? A delicious satisfying meal that was good for me to boot. Great job, Fala Bar!

Sidecar Doughnuts VS. Donut Bar

I’m not the biggest doughnut fan. In fact, for the longest time I couldn’t stand them. Then, they started going gourmet and what I previously found to be balls of grease turned into something delicious. Orange County is now home to multiple fancy doughnut shops […]

Meeting Shag at WonderGround Gallery

It’s been awhile since I mentioned Shag (three years, wow!) but I’m still a big fan of his work. This past week a piece commissioned by Disney debuted at the WonderGround Gallery and he happened to be there signing his work. I, of course, had […]
