Spotlight on Local Charity BookEnds

local spotlight

I know this spotlight series usually highlights a local brand but Southern California is also home to many wonderful charities and BookEnds is a new favorite.

BooksEnds was founded by Brandon, an eight year old boy, who noticed that a local children’s home was in desperate need of books for their library. He solicited his classmates for donations and the library ended up with more books than they ever expected. So much so that his mother began looking for other organizations that could use donated books. She soon discovered that there were many. Out of this grew BookEnds.

Today, BookEnds supports local schools that are in need of books. They do this through donations from the the public and school book drives. Schools that have enough books hold drives that encourage their students to donate books to their peers in need. Is that a fantastic idea? Not only do you have underprivileged kids gaining the opportunity to grow through reading but you also have children learning kindness and charity through their book drives. Good meets good. Love it.
On October 20th BookEnds will be holding a BookDash 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run on the Westchester Parkway.
So, if you’re a runner or walker or just love supporting a good cause, be sure to sign up!
