Viewing Songs in the Key of LA at the Central Library

The Central Library is one of my favorite places in all of Los Angeles. Not only is it a beautiful repository for the written word but it also houses an exhibit space where I’ve seen many interesting displays. Their current exhibit, Songs in the Key of LA is one of my favorites.

This sheet music exhibit showcases the many songs that have focused on Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Here’s a sampling of the treasures on display.

I’ve never heard of many of those songs but the one on the bottom is a personal favorite. I’m a huge fan of Bing Crosby and this song is one of his most cheerful. Check it out:

Not only is is the exhibit filled with treasures but it’s also laid out beautifully.

Isn’t that just so inviting?

And when you go be sure to stop in the gift shop next door. It’s the brick and mortar original to the Library Store on Wheels. Not only does it have some of the funnest goods for sale but there’s also a great Moby Dick window display.

Captain Ahab is so cute!
