Spotlight on Pom Wonderful

local spotlightSince I’ve started this feature it’s been fascinating to find out so many great companies are locally based. Take Pom Wonderful. I had no idea they were based out of Los Angeles. But they are! This company is all about the pomegranate and that delicious fruit with the crazy insides is the main focus of their line of beverages.

Recently, I was sent a case of the new 8oz 100% Pomegranate Juice bottles to try and naturally my mine went to cocktails. So I headed on over to their website where I found a plethora of recipes. With those in hand I picked up some ingredients, headed over to my friend’s house and we got to mixing!

First up, the signature Pom Cosmo.

Vodka, triple sec, lime and Pom Wonderful make a light, sweet tart cocktail. Perfect for a first course.

Next up, Tall Redhead.

Sprite, vodka, Pom Wondeful. This is one of those deceptive drinks that don’t taste like they have any alcohol in them. Watch out or this Tall Redhead will slay you!

Third, Pink Angel.

Raspberry vodka (substituted for currant), triple sec,  lime, and Pom Wonderful. Whoa Nelly! This was the good stuff! The raspberry and pomegranate made for a delicious combination.
And finally, Pom Fleur.
Vodka, elderflower liqueur, and Pom Wonderful. Like Vanessa Williams sang we saved the best for last. I’m already a huge elderflower fan and the combination of the liqueur and the pomegranate juice was out of this world.
So, not only is Pom Wonderful a good juice to have around the house but it’s an excellent mixer, too. I’m thinking it’s going to be a staple in my cocktail repetoire.
Oh, and don’t worry. I didn’t drink four full cocktails and I certainly didn’t drink and drive.

Visiting the Holyland Exhibition

One of the things I love about Los Angeles is it’s hidden gems. Outsiders may think it’s a sea of shopping malls and freeways but it’s quite the opposite. There are so many unique things hidden in the nooks and crannies of LA that it’s […]
